and Responsibilities:
Occupational therapists help people with mental, physical or
social disabilities to independently carry out every day tasks or occupations.
They work with children and adults of all ages, whose difficulties may have
been presence since birth, or the result of an accident, illness, ageing or
lifestyle.

use of meaningful and purposeful occupations

Adaptation
of environments and processes to enhance functional performance in occupations

Promotion
of health and wellness through engagement in valued occupations

Graded
tasks and activities as pre requisites to engagement in occupations
·
Design,
fabrication, application, or training in the use of assistive technology or
orthotic devices and training in the use of prosthetic devices
Salary:
$26,000 - $45,000
Education:
Prospective students
should be aware that occupational therapy aide programs are not eligible for
accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education
(ACOTE) and a graduate of an occupational therapy aide program is not eligible
to sit for the national exam to become certified as an occupational therapy
assistant.
Reflection:
I wouldn’t like to be a
Occupational Therapist because that’s not what I am planning on for my future.
