Patient Representative
Duties and Responsibilities:
Answers telephone and either responds to inquiry, directs caller to appropriate personnel, or initiates a triage slip or response by medical personnel. Schedules appointments and enters appointment date and time into computerized scheduler with a high rate of accuracy. Provides exemplary customer service; treats patients and coworkers with courtesy and discretion. Greets and directs patients, salespeople, and visitors. Registers patients by verifying that patient's record is up to date and accurate. Makes appropriate changes in computer system and on patient's chart. Enters confidential personal health information.
Average Salary: $20,000 - $40,000 
Education Requirements:
Patient service representatives should have a high school diploma, but depending on the type of position, additional training may be necessary. Many technical and community colleges offer certificate or associate's degree programs in medical assisting, which provide a more advanced academic background and experience for an aspiring patient service representative.These programs typically take 1-2 years to complete.
