much more than providing basic medical assistance patients, or as they are

- Change dressings.
- Check patients' pulse, temperature and respiration.
- Direct patients in simple prescribed exercises and in the use of braces or artificial limbs.
- Maintain records of patient care, condition, progress, and problems in order to report and discuss observations with a supervisor or case manager.
- Massage patients and apply preparations and treatments, such as liniment, alcohol rubs, and heat-lamp stimulation.
Average Salary: $35,000
Education:
Home health aides must receive formal training and pass a
competency test to work for certified home health or hospice agencies that
receive reimbursement from Medicare or Medicaid. Personal and home care aides,
however, face a wide range of requirements, which vary from state to state.
