Optometrist
Duties and responsibilities:
Optometrists examine
patients' eyes, test their sight, give advice on visual problems and prescribe
and fit spectacles or contact lenses when needed. They are trained to recognise
diseases of the eye, such as glaucoma and cataract, as well as general health
conditions such as diabetes. They refer patients to medical
practitioners when necessary, as well as sometimes sharing the care of patients
with chronic conditions
$78,000
Education:
Students seeking to make a real
difference will find no better career than optometry. Only one degree qualifies
you to become an optometrist: the Doctor of Optometry (O.D.), a
four-year, doctoral-level degree. While concentrating primarily on structure, function,
and disorders of the eye, students in a professional O.D. program will also
take courses in human anatomy, biochemistry, and physiology, among others, to
prepare for their role as primary-care doctors protecting patients’ overall
health and wellness.
Reflection:
I would not like to work
as an optometrist because I want to work somewhere else, more like an
electrician.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT!!!
